I have received funding in the past am I eligible this year?

Yes you are, provided you and your sport qualify under the application guidelines of one sport per calendar year. In 2009, we were turning down kids applying for repeat funding but, thanks to the generosity of our community we are now able to fund all kids that qualify including kids who have had grants in past years.

Who can the adjudicator be?

A professional in social work, family services or a school counselor/principal or a public health nurse but not your child's coach.

What expenses are eligible for funding?

Registration fees in a sport that has a recognized provincial body up to $250. A link to the list of eligible sports is on the Apply for a Grant page. Not covered are sport camps, travel or equipment costs or fund raising portions of registration fees. Sport BC - BC Ferries does have a program to assist with team travel.

KidSport™ does not cover the costs of equipment. There some other organizations that equipment may be available through including; City of Victoria H.E.L.P for hockey equipment and Canadian Tire Jump Start.

Which sports qualify?

Sports that are governed by a provincial sports organization qualify including;  baseball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, football, swimming, gymnastics, karate, basketball, figure skating, water-polo, track & field, triathlon. Click on this link for a list of all qualifying sports http://sportbc.com/get-involved/all-sports.

Can more than one child from a family receive a KidSport™ grant?

If I apply for funding, how soon will I be notified?

Approximately one month from receipt of the application, however most sports will allow your child to start play at the beginning of the season should you advise them that you have submitted your application to KidSport™.

Volunteering. I would like to help, do you need volunteers?

Yes we do! Most of our volunteer opportunities are event specific. Go to the How You Can Help page.

Donations. I would like to make a donation, how do I do so and can I get a tax receipt?

That would be awesome! You can mail a cheque to our address. Should your cheque be for more than $25 and you would like a tax receipt your cheque should be payable to KidSport Canada™. In the notes portion of the cheque please write KidSport Victoria. For more donation information go to the Donate Today page.
